WildStar is an upcoming science fiction MMORPG developed by NCsoft's Southern California-based Carbine Studios. In addition to a class system, WildStar offers four "paths": Explorer, Soldier, Scientist, and Settler. The game takes place on Nexus, a fictional planet said to be on the edge of known space. NCSoft claims WildStar will provide players with challenges and rewards that respond to their play style choices, as well as their combination of faction, race, class, and path choices. WildStar intends to provide extensive focus on mini-quests and challenges.

Q: Amy asked: How integrated will PvP and PvE be? A: I think there’s a good bit of integration between the two in Wildstar. You can earn experience in PvP, so if you want, you can choose to do your leveling there instead of out in PvE. All of your path abilities, class abilities, equipment (item specials) are used in both environments. The only difference we have thus far is with PvP stats, to assist with gear progression for PvP players. Q: Buffo asked: Will we have bases to conquer, defend, upgrade and have long hour fights on? A: I think a lot of this sort of thing, people expect in World PvP, which will not happening for launch. However, your itches may be scratched in Warplot PvP. Q: Carl asked: When will we be seeing 2v2 and 5v5 queues, as well as the maps they will use? A: We only have the one arena map for the moment. 2v2 and 5v5 will be using the same map. You’ll see these brackets in, not the next beta push, but the one after. Q: Duke asked: So, how are battlegrounds coming along? A: Our battlegrounds are coming along great – and you will be able to see for yourselves with the next push. We’ll be giving you Smash and Grab, our CFT variant map that we talked about on our website. Don’t forget to protect your “flags” (Moodie Masks!), because the enemy can steal them! Q: Eliza asked: Is there going to be an ability to lock XP? I don’t want to see Warsong Twinks again. A: We have rallying for Battlegrounds – all players will be boosted up to the max level of their current Battleground bracket. So for example, with Smash and Grab coming, we’re using one big bracket to test with -3-30. Once you come in, you’ll be boosted to level 30 in terms of gear and character strength. We will also have a rating system in place, you will have an individual Battleground rating that will be used in Rated Battleground maps to match you up to appropiate opponents. The ratings will limit what you see in other games, where twinks rule all. Q: Fawn asked: What will the largest size PvP battleground will there be? A: Our largest size battleground will be 15v15! Q: George asked: When we test BGs, will it be 1-22 as a bracket for now? or 10-22? A: 3-30 for Smash and Grab. We’ll be looking at how we want to assign bracket level ranged, based on your feedback and playtesting experiences. So I look forward to seeing you guys queue and murder each other. Q: Harry asked: A lot of competitive players do not like gear to offer a distinct advantage in things like arena, so how will you make sure gear doesn’t play such a role that it causes problems like stagnation or the competitive community? A: Some people do, some people don’t. I watched a forum do an almost 50/50% on a pvp stats topic that talked about things like this The current plan is to allow Arena ratings and gear progression blend together, players who compete in Arena and attain the gear will end up matching at the same sort of rating tiers. Q: Iona asked: Will battlegrounds have environmental effects such as teleporters, super jump pads, power ups and so on? A: Smash and Grab uses power-ups…we’re working on another one that uses a jump pad setup. We’re not ruling anything out if it fits the battleground’s gameplay, we’re gonna use it! Q: Jacob asked: Will there be a ranking system? If so will there be additional passive/active skills/stats that can be obtained via ranking? A: There are not any plans for a PvP specific ranking system (with additional skills/passives) at this time. Q: Kurt asked: in your opinion which existing game had your favorite implementation of pvp? A: So, I’m kind of biased for this answer…my first love was Dark Age of Camelot…and I ended up working on it too. But, I actually don’t midd the frontiers fights. I miss Thidranki Q: Lucky asked: What types of PvP will there be? Arena, WvW, BGs? A: We will have battlegrounds for leveling and large group play. We will have arenas for small team/competitive endgame. We will have Warplots for mass/raid endgame play. And we have world PvP that can pretty much fit all those categories, depending on player desire. Q: Maple asked: Will there be a specific gear set appearances that you can only get through PvP? A: I hope so, it’s up to what we can fit in, budget wise. I’m already asking! Q: Nina asked: Can we collect other players’ heads to mount on our wall in PvP? A: This sounds like a great achievement style reward. Unfortunately, our players don’t drop loot Q: Ora asked: Can you use mounts in BGs? A: You’ll be able to use mounts in the 15v15 maps, because they will be a bit larger. The other two are smaller (one feels like more of an interior space), so mounts won’t be allowed. Q: Pedro asked: Will ratings be a visible statistic or will it behind the scenes? A: Your individual and team ratings will be visible on the UI…at all times! We’re also going to show you the ratings change on the scoreboard after matches. Q: Rick asked: Will arena’s ever have a different ruleset based on maps or will they remain as just death matches? A: Good question! We may decide to vary the ruleset, we haven’t decided to stick with the team elimination solely for all maps. Q: Sila asked: If the competitive scene starts to take off, are you guys going to do your best to try and support it with E-sport features/hosting tournaments and giving the community the tools to host their own tournaments, etc…? A: Of course! We’ll do everything in our power to support community efforts. If it turns out post-launch that the community wants us to focus on PvP tools, we’ll shift resources that way. Q: Tuco asked: Will there be PvP gear to earn as we level up at vendors, or is that kind of thing only for cap? A: You will have gear that you can earn as you’re leveling up through Battlegrounds play. I’m actually going to be working with Gortok, our Econ designer, next week to sketch out reward progression. Q: Urza asked: How will the PvP gear work, PvP only? Or will it work in PvE also? A: PvP gear will have PvP stats – a PvP Offense stat and a PvP Defense stat. The Offense stat is a bonus to damage dealt to players. The Defense counters that. I believe you will have some defense base (built in), as well. As such, those two stats are really only useful in the PvP environment. Q: C3PO asked: Are we going to see same-faction warzones to address faction imbalance queues? (a la Huttball) A: At this time, all of our Battlegrounds are faction v faction Battlegrounds. We even had to hack in a temp way for you guys to play the BG next phase, since we’re all still stuck on one side. That said, if the queues no longer support such activity, we will make changes to allow them to be the same faction. Q: Liana asked: Will consumables be usable in BGs? A: Yes. For arenas: I have not blocked anything yet, but I have the ability to, should we find something that doesn’t fit within the skill based competitive nature of Arena. Q: Ford Prefect asked: When you level adjust brackets those at the higher level will still have abilities those leveled up will not have right? A: Yes, that’s correct. You’ll be doing damage on par with the high level, you’ll have health that matches that high level…but you won’t have his extensive limited action set. This is why I want to carefully set our brackets for Battlegrounds, so that it’s fair for low and high level play. Q: Blake asked: Will PvE and PvP meet and be forced at some point? aka if we have a pure PvE player in WS that doesn’t want to see nor do any PvP, will they be forced to do it at some point in their PvE exploration? A: No. One of our core tenets is play the way you want to play. You should not be forced into PvP’ing if you don’t want to. So you roll your character on a PvE server, you likely won’t step anywhere that would get you flagged. Q: Nina asked: When she says you’ll be boosted in terms of gear, does that mean that everyone will have identical stats in battlegrounds regardless of their equipped gear? Or how will that work? A: The way you’ve laid out your stats on the gear does not change. Your gear is basically “boosted” to what a level 30 gear piece would look like with your stat layout…if that makes any sense Q: Richard asked: Will 5v5 do anything to prevent premade groups for dominating PUGs, as is the most common problem with PvP in all other games. A: The 5v5 you’re speaking of is Arena matches. Battleground matches are 10v10 or 15v15. Arena matches are all with premade teams Q: Naples asked: Will there be battleground with NPC assists or targets? A: We actually don’t have that planned for any of our current gametypes in development. We tend to steer away from NPC usage in BGs. Q: Pogo asked: Will there be a central PvP hub? Where you can also queue from an NPC, or hang around other PvPers? A: You can queue from anywhere using Group Finder…so it’s basically where you and your fellow PvPers wish to hang out. I’d recommend someone’s house. Who’s bringing the beer? Q: Warrior asked: What game modes do you plan on implementing for battlegrounds other that ctf? A: I will give you the scoop on two others: [REDACTED until official reveal, if they deliver what they promise, it deserves a full showing off with screenshots/video rather than a few lines of text here] Q: Esper asked: Will there be any sort of financial gain from leveling in PvP to make up for the fact that you don’t get quest rewards and the like? A: We’re working on giving you PvP currency and money for participating in matches, bonus for winning. The money you can use to fund your leveling (skill purchases for example). Q: Stalker asked: Will any PvP forms involve vehicles, turrets or special weapons? A: Turrets and special weapons – Warplots PvP…details coming later Vehicles: since most of that tech is still new and shiny, I’m inclined to wait until post launch…some of the rough edges need smoothing still. Q: Spellslinger asked: I know World PvP isn’t a focus for launch, but at what level will players of opposite factions start running into each other in the open world? A: I believe the answer lies over yonder in Whitevale…Which I believe is around level 23ish Q: Warrior asked: Can you talk about PvP currencies and how they are acquired/spent? A: We have one global PvP currency, tenatively called Prestige. It will be acquired through match participation (bonus for winning), like I said earlier, and off of player kills in instanced PvP. It’s spent on various types of item rewards (which Gortok and I will be shaping next week), including gear, cosmetics, consumables, (maybe mounts). There will also be some rewards that require you to have ratings to purchase (whether it’s arena, bg, or warplot rating, depends on the gear being offered). Q: Miono asked: Can we expect costumes to come out of PvP rewards? A: See previous answer also house type stuff too, I forgot that. Q: Group finder…at this point it seems that it requires 1 tank, 1 healer and 3 dps, will that change to allow more freedom of group making? A: Group Finder is made for a typical group makeup, in order to facilitate fast queuing and matching. If you want to run a dungeon or adventure with a “non-group finder standard” group makeup, I highly recommend either 1) grouping up to 5 before you in or 2) using the dungeon/adventure entrance. (Please note, group finder is not yet fully functional…I may be telling you something you can’t do yet with it in beta!). Q: Is there any chance of mounted PvP? A: As I said earlier, you’ll be able to use mounts in PvP spaces (larger battlegrounds, for one)…but we don’t have anything that will allow you to actually do combat on them at this point. That’s a far larger endevor, that definitely won’t be a launch feature. Q: Can we expect any paths strictly related to PvP? A: Settler, Soldier, Scientist and Explorer are it. However, you will have various path abilities and potencially path content in Warplot PvP. So find a favorite Q: Will we have the option to play “unrated” games of the battlegrounds which don’t affect our real rating? A: Yes. Those are designated “Open” Battlegrounds. Good for practicing, taking a break from the rating game, kicking back with friends, or dipping your toe in for the first time. Q: How will rewarding for instance healers in battlegrounds be handled? Often, pure DPS is what gives you the most contribution, meaning that healing often gets overlooked unless you’re a bit of a masochist like me A: Kills in instanced PvP are shared by the group, so you’ll get a portion of that experience. Objective experience can also be earned – an we are attempting to reward assisting players, as well as the objective carrier/capturer/etc. That will work the same way for PVP currency btw. Q: Any plans on granting “defenders” of points any kind of reward or points in a match? A: This is a good one. I can probably tie in some experience with doing things like recovering stolen “flags”, in the CTF map. This will have to be done on a case by case basis. Q: When will we get to see dueling during beta? A: You will, however, it will be coming much later in the beta stages. We’re working on things like group finder, battleground content, and my beloved Warplots first. But note, I haven’t forgotten about it. It actually belongs to me, since it’s vaguely PvPish…also a sorta social, but that’s beside the point Q: Can we have fight clubs on our sky plots? A: What’s the number one rule of the fight club?

Yes but there is not any release date available for Archeage or any other Korean MMO in US or EU very soon.
I know there are a bunch of them like: Archeage, Black Desert, World of Darkness, and Pathfinder Online, Bless Online and what has to come, but none of them are coming soon in EU/NA.
Anyhow Wildstar (Winter) Beta is coming in December.
